So what are the biggest mistakes we make when it comes to weight loss? I have made every single one of these mistakes so I am going to break it down so you don’t make the mistakes that I did!
Weight loss for women over 40 can be confusing as there is so much information about diet over 40, menopause weight loss and female fat loss over 40. Have you encountered a few hurdles since becoming older like me?
I have spent the last 5 years trying and testing different methods of fat loss or weight loss and I am here to tell you when you get older it doesn’t get any easier.
In fact, you will know if you are reading this and over the age of 40, that staying in shape as you get older for most women gets more difficult.
Factors like menopause, having children, the body changing, to name a few will make things a little less easier than when you were young.
But don’t give up hope! You can have a fantastic shape going into your 40s, 50s and even in your 60s without spending hours in the gym every day and starving yourself (in fact you definitely shouldn’t be starving yourself!).
Here are the BIG mistakes we make when it comes to fat loss or weight loss over 40:
1. Doing too much cardio
Eg running, show photo, makes you hungry.
Or any of machines in the gym.
You don’t need to do hours and hours of cardio! FOCUS ON better focus on 15 TO 30 MIN HIIT sessions 3 or 4 times a week.
2. Not doing any strength training (thinking strength training will make you ‘bulky’.
Myth – Strength training will not make you bulky!
Put muscle back on that you have lost because of decreasing hormones when you are over 40
Having muscle burns energy therefore fat – this will increase your metabolism
You will look better when you get rid of fat otherwise when you lose weight you will get that skinny fat look!
3. Not getting your diet right!
Calories in versus calories out – you can’t workout really well then eat badly and expect results
Taking calories too low
Cutting out carbs
